For fans of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey who are making a beeline for theatres to watch the epic in its intended IMAX format, they might be in for a surprise.
If the official Dune X page is to be believed, footage from the upcoming film is attached to the Tom Holland, Matt Damon and Zendaya starrer movie. Notably, Zendaya features in both The Odyssey and Dune Part Three alongside Timothee Chalamet. Both films will also see Robert Pattinson in pivotal roles. The official X, formerly Twitter, handle of Dune (@dunemovie) shared a post where they wrote, "Experience exclusive footage of #DuneMovie in front of The Odyssey, only in IMAX 70mm. Get there early to not miss it." The post further shared, "Dune: Part Three only in theaters and IMAX December 18. #FilmedforIMAX" While it is not sure whether the footage will find its way in Indian theatres too, the post shared a number of places where one will be able to see footage of Dune in IMAX 70MM format during The Odyssey screenings. These will include places in US like Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida and New York among others. It will also be available in Canada, United Kingdom (London, Manchester), Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic and France. A number of fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts, with one person writing, "Nolan fans walked in for The Odyssey... Warner said, "Since you're already here... have some Dune too."" A second person humorously wrote, "If I show up early enough I might actually catch a sandworm on the big screen.” However not all are happy, with a third person sharing, "I wish you guys would stop rewarding those either lucky,or rich, enough to have access to an IMAX 70mm cinema. The rest of us would love to watch the Dune 3 footage too but it'll likely end up being in crappy phone quality off a cinema screen-not exactly as Villeneuve intended." Dune: Part Three is expected to adapt Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah, taking the story beyond Paul Atreides' rise to power and exploring the consequences of his victory. The film is set to delve into political intrigue, religious fanaticism and the heavy cost of absolute power. Director Denis Villeneuve has described the third instalment as the conclusion of his Dune trilogy rather than the start of a sprawling franchise. Dune: Part Three brings back an ensemble cast led by Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani, with Rebecca Ferguson returning as Lady Jessica, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, and Charlotte Rampling as Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam. Jason Momoa is also set to return as Hayt, while Anya Taylor-Joy takes on a significantly expanded role as Alia Atreides after her brief appearance in Dune: Part Two. Joining the franchise are Robert Pattinson as the shapeshifting Face Dancer Scytale, Isaach de Bankolé as Farok, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa as Leto II, and Ida Brooke as Ghanima.
