in the ongoing Sabarimala gold theft investigation. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) recently recorded his statement at his Chennai residence, probing his connections to Unnikrishnan Potty, the primary accused in the case. Sabrimala Gold Theft Case: Why Jayaram Was Questioned?
The case dates back to 2019, when Jayaram, videos of Jayaram attending a puja in Chennai in 2019, organised by Unnikrishnan Potty surfaced. The event reportedly involved artefacts from Sabarimala temple that were being processed for gold plating. Investigators are examining the actor’s alleged role, in these ceremonies and whether he had financial or personal connections with Potty or other suspects in the theft. SIT officials also asked about the number of times Jayaram participated in such rituals and his connecrtion with the prime accused.The investigation focuses on two main incidents: the reported removal of gold from the Dwarapalaka, which are guardian deity idols and the Sreekovil doorframes at the Sabarimala temple. The SIT has arrested 12 people, including two former Travancore Devaswom Board presidents, B Murari Babu and S Sreekumar. While Murari Babu and Sreekumar were released on bail due to procedural delays, Potty remains in jail for one of the cases.
What Is Actor Jayaram’s Involvement In Sabrimala Gold Theft Case?
Reports state that Jayaram’s questioning was limited to clarifying his presence and role during pujas with Potty. There is no indication that he has been named as an accused. The SIT is examining each individual connected to the events surrounding the gold misappropriation, with Jayaram’s statement expected to provide additional information. Jayaram has not released any statement about the case yet.
On the professional front, Jayaram will next appear alongside his son Kalidas in Ashakal Aayiram, set to release on February 6, 2026.
