Famous Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee got disappointed with the election commission’s work as her name disappeared from the voter list of the ongoing
West Bengal Elections 2026. For the unversed, polls are underway in the state with the first phase taking place currently across 152 seats in 16 districts. In a recent interview, the Paatal Lok actress mentioned that she and her sister Ajopa Mukherjee couldn't vote in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as well. The actress revealed that she didn’t have time or opportunity to ensure her name was listed after what happened a couple of years ago.
Swastika Mukherjee Couldn’t Vote In West Bengal Elections 2026
In an interview with News18 Bangla, Swastika Mukherjee said that she was certain that her name was not on the voter list. She doesn’t have patience to make calls to a few people to make her name appear on the list. She preferred to stay at home during the process. The Qala star is now hopeful that she will cast her vote next time.
While recalling the 2024 incident, she had taken to her Instagram to share her story. Swastika had lost her voter ID card, and her sister Ajoba had her I-card. Hence, she voted last year, but this year, the sister duo’s names were missing from the list. “I have never seen anything more disgusting than this,” Swastika Mukherjee added.
The actress also mentioned that her parents’ names are still there. However, she noticed that people who have not been alive for years are still there on the list. Swastika Mukherjee couldn’t believe the irony of the whole election process in India, as many people couldn’t vote because their names were missing from the voter list.

West Bengal Election 2026’s polling time for the first phase is from 7 am to 6 pm. Current Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress is trying hard to re-elect her as CM, while the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to dethrone Mamata Didi.
