Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War had been in the making for a while. A few days ago, images of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's retro avatars from the set
surfaced online. Now, it has been confirmed that the real-life couple and their co-star, Vicky Kaushal, have completed shooting for the magnum opus. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is known for larger-than-life storytelling, visuals and emotionally charged narratives, is likely to present a movie that is a mix of intense human drama and scale. The movie is set for a theatrical release on January 21, 2027.

SLB has completed working on Love & War's shoot with the film's three lead actors - Ranbir, Alia and Vicky. The entire team of this magnum opus along with the filmmaker, bid an emotional farewell. That said, the director will now move on to the post-production of this highly anticipated project.
For those unaware, when Love & War was announced, the makers had confirmed it would arrive in cinemas on Christmas 2025. After multiple delays, the film was finally locked for 2027 release. This project marks Ranbir's professional reunion with SLB after their 2007 film Saawariya. The actor made his Bollywood debut opposite Sonam Kapoor Ahuja in that project.
On the other hand, Alia first collaborated with the legendary filmmaker on Gangubai Kathiawadi. The actress had even won a National Award for her performance in the 2022 film. Talking about Vicky, he has worked with SLB for the first time on Love & War.

Earlier, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, SLB opened up about working on the project with Ranbir, Alia and Vicky. The filmmaker said, "I'm working with Ranbir [Kapoor] after 18 years and I can't stop working with Alia [Bhatt] because there's still so much [potential] to tap into; The chota-packet-bada-dhamaka girl that she is. Iām also working with Vicky Kaushal for the first time." The director added that they aren't just wonderful actors, but also wonderful people.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir will next be seen in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Part 1. Co-starring Sai Pallavi, Yash, Ravie Dubey and Sunny Deol, the mythological epic will be out in theatres on November 8. As for Alia, the actress was last seen in Alpha with Sharvari. The movie, directed by Shiv Rawail, opened to mixed reviews. On the other hand, Vicky's last big screen release was Laxman Utekar's Chhaava.
