Bhumi Pednekar's much-awaited series, Daldal, is finally streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Featuring the actress as DCP Rita Ferriera, the crime thriller
received mixed reactions upon its OTT premiere. Co-starring Samara Tijori and Aditya Rawal, the Suresh Tirveni show was digitally released on January 30, 2026. Now, in an exclusive interview with Zoom, Bhumi has opened up about playing the role of Rita in Daldal. Speaking exclusively to us, the actress revealed she was exhausted while constantly living with her character's 'fears' and 'triggers'. Here's everything Bhumi discussed in this conversation.
Bhumi Pednekar on playing Rita in Daldal
While discussing about her character in Daldal, Bhumi told Zoom that Rita is not very expressive. That's why the actress said she had to stay with everything she knew about her character. "There's a lot of finding Rita that actually happened on set even though we had four months of prep," she said.
The actress further told us that she knew what triggers her character in Daldal. And considering that, Bhumi would wonder if she had an opportunity to react to something. "That's how the complexities of a character comes out. Especially when you're not backed by a lot of dialogue. The show is not verbose. That's why it's a very intelligent show."
Taking that into consideration, the actress and makers had to look at creative and disruptive ways of communicating with what the material is meant to communicate and make audience feel a certain thing. "So I was constantly living with Rita's fears, her triggers, what she loves, what she dislikes which is a lot of things. Most things she dislikes. What she appreciates, she doesn't appreciate. The things that she hasn't unpacked yet. I was constantly living with that in every scene. So by the end of it, I was exhausted."
