Is Shah Rukh Khan about to make an appearance in Rajinikanth's next, Jailer 2, in 2026? Fans can't keep calm after Mithun Chakraborty reportedly teased
the King actor's involvement in the Tamil film. Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is set to release in theatres on June 12, 2026. Rajinikanth is reprising his role of a retired jailer, Muthuvel Pandiyan IPS, aka Tiger, from the 2023 film Jailer. A few A-list names have already been rumoured for the big-budget production, and now SRK's name adds extra fervour to the speculation. Here's what Mithun Chakraborty had to say.
Shah Rukh Khan to cameo in Rajinikanth's Jailer 2?
In an interview with SITI Cinema, the veteran actor shared a little bit of information about his antagonistic role in Jailer 2. A clip of his interview is now going viral online, where he mentions in Bangla going up against "Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Ramya Krishnan, Shiva Rajkumar," in the sequel. Many believe that all these actors will be featured in the Tamil film.
Mohanlal appeared in the first film as a guest star, while Shiva Rajkumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and Vinayakan are slated to appear in Jailer 2 in cameo roles. Other names being shared out to be part of the ensemble cast include SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Vijay Sethupathi, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Anna Rajan, and Vidya Balan. Shah Rukh's participation in Thalaivar's next after turning 75 would take the cake, though.
Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth's previous collaboration
The two superstars of Indian cinema have worked together once in 2011 for Shah Rukh's home production Ra. One. Rajinikanth made a special appearance in the sci-fi film directed by Anubhav Sinha, where he reprised his role as Chitti the robot from the Tamil film Enthiran (2010).
This will be the second straight film of Rajinikanth's to have a big Bollywood cameo. Earlier this year, Aamir Khan had a cameo in his film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
