Taapsee Pannu is all set to headline Netflix’s upcoming action-thriller Gandhari, which promises a gripping blend of mystery, emotion and high-octane action.
The makers have now unveiled the film’s trailer, offering a glimpse into the dangerous world of Joypurra and the secrets lurking within it. Taapsee plays Bani, a mother whose life takes a devastating turn after her daughter is abducted. Refusing to sit back and wait for answers, Bani takes matters into her own hands and begins a relentless search for her child. As the investigation deepens, she finds herself confronting unexpected dangers, hidden truths and powerful forces standing in her way.
Taapsee Pannu's Gandhari trailer out
Netflix has unveiled the trailer of Gandhari, introducing Taapsee Pannu as Bani, a mother whose world turns upside down after her daughter goes missing. What begins as a desperate search soon takes her into the unsettling and mysterious world of Joypurra, where fear, silence and hidden secrets appear to go hand in hand.
The trailer establishes Bani as someone who refuses to remain helpless in the face of her daughter’s disappearance. Instead of waiting for the investigation to provide answers, she decides to take matters into her own hands. Her search gradually becomes more dangerous as she encounters people and circumstances that suggest there is much more to the case than initially meets the eye.
Set in the fictional town of Joypurra, the trailer creates an eerie atmosphere around the disappearance. The town itself appears to be an important part of the mystery, with its cultural traditions and enigmatic Behrupiyas adding another layer to the story. As Bani digs deeper, the trailer hints at a larger web of secrets surrounding her daughter's disappearance. Her journey takes her through moments of fear, confrontation and intense physical action, making it clear that she is prepared to go to extraordinary lengths to bring her daughter home.
Alongside Taapsee's Bani, the trailer introduces Ishwak Singh as Gokul, another parent dealing with the disappearance of his daughter. Jatin Sarna plays Kabir, the officer leading the investigation, while Swastika Mukherjee, Mita Vashisht and Chhaya Kadam are also part of the ensemble.
Taapsee Pannu’s action-packed avatar
One of the biggest highlights of the trailer is Taapsee's physically intense portrayal of Bani. Her character is driven by a mother's determination rather than simply being positioned as a conventional action hero. The action sequences appear closely tied to her emotional journey, with Bani repeatedly pushing herself to survive and uncover the truth. The trailer also suggests that Gandhari will explore themes of motherhood, sacrifice, courage and perseverance while maintaining the suspense of an investigation thriller.
Directed by Devashish Makhija and written and produced by Kanika Dhillon, Gandhari marks another collaboration between Taapsee and Dhillon. The film also reunites Taapsee with Netflix following their previous work together.
Gandhari is set to premiere on September 3, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.
