What is the story about?
Sanya Malhotra and Aditya Rawal are headlining Prime Video’s upcoming film, titled Sundar Poonam. The first chilling teaser was unveiled at the recently
held event in Mumbai. Directed by Pulkit, the movie inspired by true events is now on floors. The teaser of Sundar Poonam hinted that the film would be dark, intense and thrilling with Sanya at the centre of the events. The video also indicated that the story is inspired by the 2025 Meghalaya honeymoon murder case. The makers haven’t confirmed yet, but it is clear that Sundar Poonam is not entirely a work of fiction.
About Sundar Poonam
The official synopsis of Sundar Poonam reads, “On their idyllic honeymoon in Kashmir, a newlywed couple goes missing, unravelling a chilling truth about Poonam, the bride, whose obsessive love story, twisted past and shocking secrets pull everyone around her into a deadly spiral.” The teaser features Sanya in a bridal trousseau. Alone in a room, her phone keeps buzzing with numerous calls and messages. However, she replies to none.
What is 2025 Meghalaya honeymoon murder case?
In May 2025, Indore-based newlyweds Raja Raghuvanshi (29) and Sonam Raghuvanshi (25) went to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. However, the trip turned ugly when they went missing from Cherrapunji. An investigation was initiated to find the couple. Tracking various clues and digging out details from locals, the police found Raja’s decomposed body on June 2, 2025. A Special Investigation Team was formed byMeghalaya police to probe the case. Earlier, it was treated as a case of accident or abduction, but later it was revealed that Sonam orchestrated her husband's murder. She hired contract killers to pull off the crime during the honeymoon. One of the alleged conspirators was her rumoured boyfriend, Raj Singh Kushwaha, who worked at her brother’s firm in Madhya Pradesh.

Directed by Pulkit and written by Jyotsana Nath and Pulkit, Sundar Poonam brings together a layered storyline that travels from the stunning backdrops of snow-capped Kashmir to the stark, burning deserts of Rajasthan. The film is produced by Kumar Taurani and Vikram Malhotra and is a Tips Films Limited and Abundantia Entertainment Production. It also stars Aditya Seal.
