What is the story about?
Shraddha Kapoor has shared her views on criticism, saying that she believes in focusing on her work rather than paying attention to negativity. When asked
about how she handles criticism, the actress was candid in admitting she's not really that interested in dealing with it. Her remarks come after she recently faced the heat on social media for her Marathi dialogue delivery and accent in her upcoming much-anticipated film, Eetha, where she essays the role of legendary Lavani and Tamasha performer Vithabai Narayangaonkar. Following the film's trailer release, Shraddha's performance has received mixed reactions, but it seems that she is focusing on her acting career.
Shraddha Kapoor reveals how she handles criticism
During a recent AMA session on Instagram with her fans, Shraddha was asked how she deals with criticism. Her answer was straightforward and funny. "I actually don't handle criticism. What's there to handle in that? I can't even handle my WhatsApp," the actress said.
She also stated that she does not even have a management team to take care of the negativity. Shraddha said, "I don't even have a manager, nor am I affiliated with any agency. My friends, directors, and producers keep scolding me that I don't check my phone."
She said she was not interested in criticism, explaining her priorities. Instead, she wants to concentrate on work and take on more projects. Her comments show an attitude where she prefers to spend her time and energy on her profession rather than engaging in online discussions and negative feedback. "I'm not interested in handling any criticism. All I want to do is work, and more and more work. That's it," the 39-year-old added.
Shraddha Kapoor slammed for Eetha
Shraddha's comments have come at a time when she is being criticised for her performance in Laxman Utekar-directed Eetha. The actress is essaying the character of Vithabai Narayangaonkar, a famous Marathi Lavani and Tamasha artist, who has contributed significantly to the folk entertainment of Maharashtra.
After the release of promotional material and the film's trailer, social media users questioned Shraddha's accent, pronunciation, diction and dialogue delivery. Some netizens found her Marathi to be too unnatural, while others slammed her voice modulation and expressions in some scenes.
The backlash has largely been about whether or not the actress has been able to capture the linguistic nuances and cultural authenticity of playing such a legendary personality. Some viewers have also questioned the casting, saying the character needs a really convincing Marathi-speaking performance.
Eetha also features Randeep Hooda, Nana Patekar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Siddharth Jadhav. The movie is slated to be released in theatres on December 4, 2026.
