Screen Actors Guild Awards, now renamed as Actor Awards announced the nominations for its 2026 version with a lot of surprise entries and major snubs too.
While Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Sinners dominate films, Apple TV's The Studio tops TV categories at the rebranded SAG Awards. Notable omissions like Cynthia Erivo for Wicked: For Good and Wagner Moura for The Secret Agent were among the most high-profile left out names. Infact, Cynthia Erivo's omission follows her previous major miss for the movie at the Critics Choice Awards too. Even though she's nominated at the upcoming Golden Globes, reports claim she won't be attending it though. Meanwhile, Wagner Moura won the Best Actor at the Cannes for The Secret Agent. He was also nominated at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards and the New York Film Critics Circle. But, he missed a place at the 2026 Actor Awards, leaving many surprised.
Top contenders
While One Battle After Another received seven nods, it was followed by Sinners with 5 nominations. Hamnet, Frankenstein and Marty Supreme dominated on the film side with 3 nominations each.
The 2026 Actors Awards will honours winners in 15 categories, including six in motion picture and nine in TV. The Best Actor will see a competition between Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) and Jesse Plemons (Bugonia). Timothée had also won last year's SAG Award for A Complete Unknown.
Netflix's entries
The Best Actress nominees are Hamnet's Jessie Buckley, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You's Rose Byrne, Song Sung Blue's Kate Hudson, One Battle After Another's Chase Infiniti and Bugonia's Emma Stone.
Netflix's two global hits Stranger Things and Squid Game are fighting with Disney+'s Andor, Paramount+'s Landman and HBO's The Last of Us in the Outstanding Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series category.
