Salman Khan’s Kick sequel has been in the talks for a long time. The producers, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, confirmed the development earlier. While
Salman wrapped up Bigg Boss 19 and shifted focus to completing Battle Of Galwan, Kick 2 is yet to go on floors. Recently, a report claimed that the film’s announcement will be made on Salman’s birthday, which is December 27. It was also reported that Jacqueline Fernandez wouldn’t return for the sequel, and Kriti Sanon has been approached to play the female lead. The source close to the project finally reacted to the speculation and buzz around the film’s casting.
Kriti Sanon replaces Jacqueline Fernandez in Kick 2
The source reacted to the rumour of Kriti replacing Jacqueline in Kick 2. An official statement stated, “All reports doing the rounds about Kick 2, including speculation around casting changes, are completely false and baseless. No official details have been planned, and the makers will share information only when the time is right.”
Kick 2 update
Earlier this year, the writer of Kick, Rajat Arora told Mid-Day, “We are taking the story ahead from where Kick [2014] ended, with Salman’s character [becoming] a police officer.” He added, “If any character demands a sequel, it is Devi Lal from Kick. There has been a huge demand for the sequel, and we could have done it much earlier if we wanted to cash in on Kick’s popularity and Salman’s stardom. But we didn’t want to make the film for the heck of it; we wanted it to have a new story and be perfect. That’s why it has taken us some time. The scripting is in progress, and will be completed soon.”
Workwise, Salman is currently in the middle of shooting Apoorva Lakhia’s Battle Of Galwan with Chitrangda Singh. The film’s release date is yet to be announced. Besides Kick 2, the sequel to Bajrangi Bhaijaan is also in the making.
