What is the story about?
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s fans have begun the countdown to his last film as an actor. Jana Nayagan, which means the mass leader, was delayed
for months before the Central Board of Film Certification finally gave the go-ahead. According to reports, its July 24 release has been preponed by a day, and preparations for the official date announcement are being made. Earlier, Jana Nayagan was certified with a runtime of 183.11 minutes. However, the film was re-censored today (July 14). The CBFC has issued a new certificate with the revised runtime.
Jana Nayagan re-censored ahead of theatrical release
According to the Central Board of Film Certification’s website, Jana Nayagan’s new runtime is 183.52 minutes, that is 3 hours, 3 minutes and 52 seconds. The A rating remains the same. While the Indian version of Jana Nayagan is censored, the film’s uncut version will be released in the U.K. as the British censor board cleared it with zero cuts.
In addition to this, the title slate of Jana Nayagan will read ‘The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C Joseph Vijay’. According to Bollywood Hungama’s report, Vijay will no longer be addressed as Thalapathy since he has taken the oath as Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister.
More about Jana Nayagan
Jana Nayagan is headlined by Vijay. It also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Narain. H Vinoth is the director.
According to reports, Jana Nayagan is the story of a man who becomes the voice of the people. Tamil Nadu CM Vijay will be seen in the role of a charismatic yet conflicted leader whose journey is shaped by public trust, personal sacrifice, and the cost of power. Bobby is the antagonist in the political thriller, while Pooja plays a key role that balances the intense drama with emotional depth. Reportedly, Jana Nayagan explores leadership, loyalty, and what it truly means to stand for the people when the system itself is stacked against you.
Jana Nayagan CBFC conflict
In the past few months, while Jana Nayagan awaited CBFC’s clearance, clips from the film were leaked on the internet, raising concern about piracy. The makers took legal action against the accused.
Jana Nayagan was scheduled for a January 9 release. It was to mark the end of Vijay’s acting career as he prepared to make an important transition from cinema to politics. The release was delayed, reportedly due to the film’s political content and the possibility of influencing the audience’s voting decisions before the Tamil Nadu elections.
