A tragic accident on the sets of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Jailer 2 has claimed the life of a 28-year-old crew member in Chennai. The deceased reportedly
suffered a fatal electric shock while working on the construction of a house-like set at a private studio in Pannaiyur. According to police sources, the accident occurred during ongoing shoot work at Adityaram Film City on East Coast Road. The incident has cast a shadow over the highly anticipated sequel directed by Nelson Dilipkumar backed by Sun Pictures. Police authorities have begun an investigation.
Jailer 2 Crew Member Dies In Electrocution Accident On Chennai Film Set
According to reports, the deceased has been identified as Karthikeyan, an electrician from Salem who was part of the film’s crew. The incident reportedly happened at a private studio in ECR, where portions of the film were being shot even after the completion of the main schedule Police sources stated that Karthikeyan was engaged in art direction and electrical work while helping erect a set for the film.
During the process, he allegedly came into contact with an electrical leak and suffered a severe electric shock. Crew members immediately rushed to help him and attempted to take him to a hospital, but he later succumbed. The incident has created a dull atmosphere among the cast and crew members associated with Jailer 2. Officials from the Kanathur Police Station have initiated an investigation into the accident. Authorities are currently examining the location to determine whether all mandatory safety protocols and electrical precautions were properly followed on the set.
An FIR had reportedly not been filed immediately after the incident, but investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances that led to the fatal accident. The makers of Jailer 2 have not yet issued an official statement regarding the tragedy.

Directed by Nelson, Jailer 2 will bring back Ramya Krishnan as Muthuvel Pandian’s wife and Mirnaa as his daughter-in-law. The sequel will also feature the return of Shivarajkumar and Mohanlal in cameo roles.
The ensemble cast has expanded with the addition of actors including Jatin Sarna, Mithun Chakraborty, Santhanam, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vijay Sethupathi, Meghana Raj Sarja, and Anna Rajan. Reports also suggest that Nora Fatehi may appear in a special dance sequence. While the storyline remains tightly under wraps, the film is being produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. Anirudh Ravichander returns as the music composer, while cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan and editor R Nirmal are also part of the film.
