What is the story about?
It’s been over 24 hours since the trailer of Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana was finally released online. Amid insane hype and sky-high expectations,
it presented Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita and Yash as Ravana. The trailer of the mythological epic also introduced other key characters, including Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Arun Govil as King Dasharath and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. From Ravana’s voice to Sita’s outfits and Rama’s voice, every detail of every character has been discussed, debated and decoded online. Meanwhile, fans have also demanded that the makers introduce the other characters from the film that are currently being kept under wraps.
Characters Missing From Ramayana Trailer
In case you didn’t know, here are the mythological characters and the actors playing them that were missing from the Ramayana trailer!
Hanuman
Hanuman, Lord Rama’s devoted ally and one of his strongest warriors, plays a key role in rescuing Mata Sita. Sunny Deol is set to play the iconic character, known for his immense strength, courage and unwavering devotion. His absence from the trailer did not sit well with many Lord Hanuman devotees, with several questioning the decision. However, it looks like the makers are saving his introduction for the second part, which will explore the events after Sita Haran.
Indrajeet
Also known as Meghanada, Ravana’s powerful son Indrajeet will reportedly be played by Raghav Juyal. While reports about his casting as the skilled warrior have been doing the rounds for some time, there has been no official confirmation. If true, Juyal will be seen as the crown prince of Lanka. Reports also suggest that the character will feature in Part Two, which is scheduled to release next Diwali.
Shatrughan
Shatrughan, youngest son of King Dasharatha and Queen Sumitra and the brother of Lakshman, will be played by Nitish Sharma. The actor is best known for his role as Sameer Verma in Pyaar Paisa Profit.
Vibhishan
Ravana’s younger brother Vibhishan will reportedly be played by Harish Uthaman. Earlier, the makers had reportedly approached South star Vijay Sethupathi for the role. Known for choosing righteousness over loyalty to his brother Ravana, Vibhishan eventually joins Rama’s side and provides valuable guidance during the battle.
Indra Dev
One of the important characters in Ramayana, Indra Dev is the king of the gods and ruler of Swarga. Actor Kunal Kapoor will reportedly play the powerful deity associated with rain, thunder and war. Fans are eagerly waiting to see his look, which is being kept under wraps along with several other characters.
Mandodari
Kajal Aggarwal stars as Mandodari in Ranbir Kapoor and Yash’s Ramayana. Fans are eagerly waiting to see her as Ravana’s wife and the queen of Lanka, who is known for her wisdom, dignity and strong character.
It looks like the makers are keeping several key characters under wraps until the release of Ramayana - Part One - The Introduction, which is scheduled to hit theatres this Diwali. Most of these characters are expected to star in the sequel.
