What is the story about?
Amid the ongoing Iran-Israel war, theatres in the Middle East are temporarily shut. As a result, the upcoming film Bhooth Bangla might have to skip its
release there. While some filmmakers decided to postpone their films, Priyadarshan and the makers of the horror-comedy are sticking to its India release. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, actor Jisshu Sengupta reacted to the slim chances of Bhooth Bangla releasing in the Middle East. He said life goes on irrespective of such situations, and a curfew-like state can’t be imposed within the film industry.
Jisshu Sengupta on Bhooth Bangla's slim chances of releasing in Middle East
Jisshu told Zoom, “Action happens every day, toh main kya ghar pe baithu? Ghar se nikalna toh padega na. Accidents toh hote rahenge. Flights ke crashes itne hote hai, main flight mein na baithu? Life goes on. I believe kya hone wala hai sochke nahi baith sakte. We think a lot. Itna sochke karoge, yes sochna padta hai uss kaam ke baare mein, but kaam ke baad kya hone wala hai yeh aapke haath mein nahi hai.”
(Translation: Action happens every day, so should I sit at home? We will have to step out of the house. Accidents happen daily. Flights crash, so should I not board it? Life goes on. I believe it is not possible to stay at home worrying about what will happen. We think a lot. Yes, it is important to think about work, but what could happen after that is not in our hands.)
Jisshu Sengupta on war affecting movies
He further added, “Agar war hone se yeh film nahi chalega, agar sach hai, toh industry band ho jani chahiye. Curfew hona chahiye. I don’t think that works. War is going somewhere else, yes it is harming us also, but at the end of the day, sab kuch band karke ghar pe nahi baith sakte. That we can’t afford to do. We should stop living also. Let’s live our lives happily and watch good cinema.”(Translation: If the film doesn’t work because the war is going on, then the industry should shut down. There should be a curfew. I don’t think that works. War is going somewhere else, yes, it is harming us also, but at the end of the day, we can’t shut down everything and hit back at home. That we can’t afford to do. We should stop living also. Let’s live our lives happily and watch good cinema.)
