Akka is set in the 1980s and follows two gangster queens whose powerful matriarchal world is threatened by the arrival of an outsider.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Akka will premiere on Netflix on October 30. The report states that the Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte starrer has locked its release date after being in production for nearly three years. The series went into production in November 2023 and is now set to make its way to the streaming platform.
Akka is being presented as a period gangster series set in the 1980s. The story is set in a fictional city in South India, where a matriarchal society is ruled by a pair of gangster queens. Their powerful sisterhood faces a major challenge when an outsider enters their world and brings an unseen threat with her.
The arrival of the outsider sets off a chain of events that puts the existing power structure at risk. The series revolves around violence and power as the women at the centre of the story fight to protect their world.
About Akka
Akka marks Keerthy Suresh's streaming debut. The actress will be seen sharing the screen with Radhika Apte, with the two actors playing central characters in the large-scale thriller. Tanvi Azmi is also part of the cast in a key role. The series, mounted as Yash Raj Entertainment's biggest streaming project to date, has been directed by debutant Dharmaraj Shetty.
Akka also marks the third web series collaboration between Yash Raj Entertainment and Netflix India. The two previously worked together on The Railway Men, which starred R Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu, and Babil Khan, and Mandala Murders, featuring Vaani Kapoor, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, and Surveen Chawla.
Beyond Akka, Keerthy Suresh has Raftaar in her lineup. The action entertainer co-starring Rajkummar Rao is scheduled to release on October 16. She was recently seen in Tamil film Dorothy, which released in theaters on September 25.
Meanwhile, Radhika Apte last appeared in Netflix's Lust Stories 3. She was a part of Vikramaditya Motwane's segment.
