CM Joseph Vijay’s most awaited film, Jana Nayagan, is finally releasing in theatres on July 23, 2026. The Thalapathy fans have been eagerly waiting for
this moment, as it is going to be his last film as an actor. While the advance booking for the Tamil film started a few days ago, the response from the audience is nothing but massive. As per the latest reports, Jana Nayagan has already crossed the Rs 20 crore mark in India so far since the advance bookings started. Notably, the impressive pre-release run turned out to be a surprising moment for all the cine lovers, as the fans showered an abundant love on the film despite a seven-month delay.
Jana Nayagan Gets Bumper Response From Audience
According to the Sacnilk report, Jana Nayagan received a bumper response from the audience in India. The report suggests that over 7 lakh tickets have already been sold in India in three languages. For the unversed, the H Vinoth-directed film is releasing in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
Coming back to the advance booking updates, Jana Nayagan’s Rs 20 crore collection in India includes the sold tickets worth over Rs 14 crore, excluding the blocked seats. The Tamil version accounts for an overwhelming majority of the pre-sales.
Tamil Nadu state contributed Rs 7.90 crore in advance bookings. Karnataka and Kerala contributed Rs 6.03 crore and Rs 1.91 crore, respectively. Bengaluru is the biggest contributor with Rs 5.99 crore in advance sales. Chennai follows with Rs 1.86 crore (with limited openings). Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Madurai, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram have also posted encouraging numbers ahead of release.
The Telugu version also witnessed a huge response from the masses, while the Hindi version has seen limited traction so far. Jana Nayagan is expected to break many records at the box office, as the buzz around Vijay’s last film is huge.

Jana Nayagan was supposed to be released on January 9, but it was kept on hold due to a delay in clearance certification from the Central Board of Film Certification. The makers challenged their decision, but nothing helped in their favour. The Tamil film also got leaked online. The makers filed an FIR and held more than 12 people in connection with the leak.
Despite criticism and controversy, Vijay got huge support from his fans. Hence, he won the Tamil Nadu Elections 2026 and became the Chief Minister of the state. Now, the film is finally releasing in theatres, and his fans can’t wait to watch him on the big screen.
