What is the story about?
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is heading Down Under. The former actress is joining the cooking competition series, Junior MasterChef Australia,
as a co-host with former MasterChef contestant and judge Poh Ling Yeow. Markle already has a bit of experience with MasterChef Australia. She appeared on an episode as a judge when she and husband Prince Harry visited the country. Her episode drew the reality series' largest Sunday audience since 2023. Junior MasterChef Australia is produced by Endemol Shine Australia (ESA); earlier Markle hosts her own lifestyle show called With Love, Meghan for Netflix.
Meghan Markle, Poh Ling Yeow team up to host Junior Masterchef Australia
Australia's Channel 10 announced on social media, "Junior MasterChef Australia is back on the menu in 2027! Poh Ling Yeow will be joined by special guest Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, to help guide the next generation of young culinary talent." The reality series is a spinoff of MasterChef Australia with children as contestants. There have been three previous seasons, and the last edition was in 2020.
In a statement, Markle shared that she had an incredible time with the whole team at MasterChef this past April and when she was asked to come back and work with a young group of talent, it was an easy yes for her. She added, "I love cooking with my own kids, so seeing what these young stars create in the kitchen is going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see what they cook up!"
Poh Ling Yeow, who was a first-runner-up in the first season of MasterChef Australia before becoming a judge, shared that reuniting with Markle was a real treat. She said, "I’m expecting plenty of delicious surprises and a little mischief, too."
Meghan Markle's recent projects
After six years residing in California, Markle and Prince Harry shifted back to the UK this year. Rumours flew that the actress, who became a household name with the legal drama Suits, would be returning to acting. A few reports claimed that Markle had been offered a role in Netflix's The Gentlemen Season 3, however, they were soon revealed to be unfounded.
Her lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan has had two seasons and a special on Netflix. She is set to play herself in the 2027 comedy film Close Personal Friends with Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, Henry Golding, Melissa Villaseñor, Natasia Demetriou, and Patti Harrison.
