About Boong
Set in Manipur, Boong centres on a young boy determined to bring his family back together. Gugun Kipgen plays the title character, who is raised by his single mother Mandakini, portrayed by Bala Hijam Ningthoujam. Growing up without his father, Boong carries a quiet hope of finding him one day.
The story follows the boy as he sets out with his best friend on a journey to search for his missing father.
What makes Boong special?
Boong doesn't depend on celebrity endorsements. Rather, it is portrayed by a cast that seems authentic and convincing on screen. The performance of Gugun Kipgen, who portrays Boong, is notable because it seems natural and genuine. The character is easy to relate to because of his simplicity and innocence.Boong's close friend Raju Agarwal is portrayed by Angom Sanamatum; the two have a natural chemistry that warms the movie. Boong's mother Mandakini is portrayed by Bala Hijam, who exudes a subtle intensity in the part that conveys both strength and vulnerability without going overboard. Naturally, Vikram Kochhar plays Raju's father, Sudhir Agarwal, in the story.
Nemetia Ngangbam, Jenny Khurai, Modhubala Thoudam, and local actors Edhou and Hamom Sadananda are also featured in the movie, which enhances the realism of the scene.
Boong is essentially about actual people narrating a Manipuri tale in their native tongue, with subtitles to make it understandable to viewers outside of the area.
