What is the story about?
Huma Qureshi-led Bayaan premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025 under the Discovery section. It is the only Indian film to showcase under the category.
Sharing pictures from the red carpet, Huma said she was honoured to be a part of TIFF and represent a film that celebrates the power of storytelling.

Sharing pictures on Instagram, Huma wrote, “Team Bayaan x TIFF ’25. It was one of those rare moments where everything slows down just enough to feel it all. Wearing Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla on the red carpet tonight felt like carrying a piece of home with me. Every thread, every detail held the weight of heritage, celebration, and a quiet kind of power.”

She added, “I felt honoured to stand here, representing a story that began so far from this carpet, so far from this platform and yet found its way here. This is the power of storytelling. Of cinema. Grateful for Bayaan, this crew, for the journey, and for the grace of being exactly where I am, in this skin, in this voice, in this moment. Also missing all the actors and crew who made this film so special who could not be here with us .. this one is for you guys … (sic)”
Talking about Bayaan in a previous statement, Huma said, “Bayaan gave me the opportunity to play the kind of character I’ve long been drawn to—someone within the justice system, yet up against forces much larger than herself. It was an absolute joy to work with a team so passionate and fearless in telling a story that feels both vital and universal.”
