Kalki 2898 AD’s sequel is one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema. The first installment turned out to be a massive hit at the box office. And now,
director Nag Ashwin confirmed that he will start shooting for Part 2 in October 2026. In a recent interview, the filmmaker confirmed that the regular shooting for the Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 will start next month, and he is expected to wrap the same by mid-2027. The sequel stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Prabhas in key roles.
Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 Update
According to India Today report, Nag Ashwin has been working on the Kalki 2898 AD sequel for a while. Now, he is moving into a more regular shooting phase. He told the portal, “We’re starting the shoot regularly from next month, and, hopefully, it should be done with the shoot by mid next year.”
Nag Ashwin shared an update soon after the prequel won two honours – Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Special Effects at the 72nd National Film Awards. He finds Kalki 2898 AD very special, as it managed to connect with the whole country and many parts of the world.
While speaking about its box office, the Mahanati director said, “I think the box office result was a validation, and kids coming up to me even two years after the release and saying they are eagerly waiting for Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 is the validation. The National Award is definitely a good energy boost for us to keep working in the right direction.”
Nag Ashwin expressed his happiness while speaking about getting the National Award for Kalki 2898 AD’s production design. He said that he always wanted the film to be recognised for its production design. The director said, “We really did some amazing and impossible things, and full credit to the massive team behind it.”
About Kalki 2898 AD Sequel
Coming back to the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD, the film is expected to hit the screens by the end of 2027. The first part starred Deepika Padukone as the female lead. However, due to creative differences with the makers, the actress exited the sequel. After that, reports suggest that Sai Pallavi has replaced Deepika in the sequel.
