What is the story about?
Project Hail Mary is arriving in Indian theatres on March 26, and ahead of its release, the makers arranged a special conversation between its lead star
Ryan Gosling and Hrithik Roshan. The two sat down for a chat that touched on science, space, cinema, and a surprising common ground, their on-screen friendships with aliens. Hrithik spoke about Koi Mil Gaya and introduced Ryan to the beloved character of Jaadu. Ryan not only loved what he heard but also suggested remaking each other's films. Hrithik, equally excited, invited Ryan to Mumbai and proposed the idea of a shared universe between Rocky and Jaadu.
Ryan Gosling Promotes Project Hail Mary With Hrithik Roshan
In a crossover moment that set social media buzzing, Hrithik Roshan and Ryan Gosling came together for an virtual conversation around Project Hail Mary, marking the first time the two global icons have connected publicly. Hrithik, who had already read Andy Weir's novel before the film came along, spoke about how deeply the story moved him.
He told Ryan, "It is incredible that on the surface it is a film about sci-fi, but underneath it all, it is really such an intimate story about this friendship. I have never really felt jealous about anybody in my life. I wasn't aware that I was capable of such base emotions."
During the conversation, Hrithik also invited Ryan to visit Mumbai, saying, "You have Rocky and I have Jaadu. We'll hang at Churchgate or Bandra." Both stars also reflected on how science fiction, when rooted in emotion, has the power to transcend borders and connect with audiences across the world.
Ryan Gosling Learns About Jaadu
One of the most charming moments of the conversation came when Hrithik brought up a connection that many Indian fans already felt but had never heard a Hollywood star acknowledge. Hrithik said, "We are perhaps the only two actors who have this close friendship with these cute little aliens. You have Rocky and I have Jaadu." He then explained Koi Mil Gaya to Ryan, describing Jaadu as someone you simply want to hug and protect.
Ryan was immediately curious and interested. After hearing all about Jaadu, he suggested that both of them should remake each other's films. Hrithik agreed wholeheartedly, adding, "Yes! We are a part of this very exclusive, professional, space alien friendship club, and we have to do something about that!" Ryan then replied, "Shared universe, maybe a sequel!"
Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, Project Hail Mary releases in India on March 26, 2026, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu across IMAX and other premium formats. The film stars Ryan Gosling alongside Sandra Hüller, James Ortiz, and Lionel Boyce.
