Bollywood is gearing up for a grand cinematic event in 2025 with War 2, the sequel to the 2019 smash hit War. The sixth chapter in the YRF Spy Universe, this high-octane action thriller will not only continue the gripping espionage saga but also expand the cinematic universe to a global scale. Scheduled for release on Thursday, August 14, 2025, the film is strategically timed to take advantage of the Independence Day weekend, much like its predecessor.
War 2 Plot: Kabir’s most dangerous mission yet
Hrithik Roshan returns as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, the dashing yet dangerous spy audiences loved in the first film. This time, Kabir embarks on a perilous undercover mission that takes him to six countries - Spain, Italy, Abu Dhabi, Japan, Russia, and India. His latest challenge brings him face-to-face with a formidable new adversary, played by Jr NTR, marking the Telugu superstar’s much-anticipated Hindi film debut. Early glimpses hint at a high-voltage face-off between Hrithik and Jr NTR, promising intense drama, complex espionage, and jaw-dropping action sequences.

War 2 cast and characters
Alongside Hrithik Roshan as Major Kabir Dhaliwal and N.T. Rama Rao Jr. as the antagonist Vikram, the film stars Kiara Advani as Kavya Luthra, who is more than just Kabir’s romantic interest. Ashutosh Rana reprises his role as Colonel Sunil Luthra, adding continuity to the Spy Universe’s core cast.
War 2 director, production and run time
Produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 brings a fresh creative vision to the franchise, with Siddharth Anand, who helmed the first installment, stepping aside for the Brahmastra filmmaker. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the film with a ‘UA’ 16+ rating across all languages. The Hindi version runs for 2 hours, 53 minutes, and 24 seconds, while the Telugu and Tamil versions clock in at 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 44 seconds each.
