What is the story about?
Ajay Devgn and horror films are a pair that can never go wrong. The actor, whose last supernatural flick was Shaitaan, is all set to dive back into the
horror genre, this time with a darker, more intense twist. According to recent reports, the actor will headline an upcoming supernatural thriller directed by Rohit Jugraj, popular for directing the popular Sardaar Ji franchise starring Diljit Dosanjh. The film, which is expected to go on floors in July, will reportedly see Devgn in a brooding avatar with supernatural powers. Having previously explored horror in films like Bhoot and Kaal, the actor’s return to the genre will definitely be a big milestone.
Ajay Devgn to play dark role in his next horror film
What makes this project particularly intriguing is Devgn’s character. As per a report in Mid-day, Ajay will portray a morally ambiguous, grey-shaded role, something he last attempted in Kaal over two decades ago. Although he was the lead in Shaitaan, the dark role was played by R Madhavan, while Ajay was the saviour dad. So, this film will flip the script for Ajay.
Set in the city of London, the film will show him as an intense and mysterious figure with supernatural abilities. Adding to the intrigue, the actor is also expected to sport a very different look in the film, so the actor wants to wrap up other commitments before beginning the high-concept horror movie.
Currently, Devgn is juggling multiple projects as he is shooting for Golmaal 5 under the direction of Rohit Shetty, alongside a packed ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kemmu, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, and Shreyas Talpade. The film is expected to keep him occupied until May, after which he will shift focus to patchwork for Drishyam 3 in June. After wrapping both projects, the super busy actor will begin working on Jugraj’s film in July.
Title of Ajay Devgn's horror film is...
As for the film’s title, it is yet to be officially announced, but reports in Bollywood Hungama suggest that the makers are considering options like Griha Pravesh and Vaastu Shastra. Among the two, Griha Pravesh is said to be the frontrunner, as it aligns closely with the film’s theme and narrative tone.
Director Rohit Jugraj, who has previously worked on films like Sardaar Ji 2, Jatt James Bond, and the series Chamak, is associated with horror genre right from the beginning of his career. Interestingly, he had also assisted Ram Gopal Varma on Bhoot, which starred Devgn, making this collaboration a full-circle moment.
The project will reportedly be shot in the United Kingdom in a start-to-finish schedule, with meticulous planning already underway. The team aims to wrap up filming by the last quarter of 2026. After doing a bunch of sequels, this horror film is actually looking like Devgn's most interesting and intriguing in a while.
