What is the story about?
Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, backed by Aamir Khan Productions, promises to be a feel-good one-day love story. The film, directed by Sunil
Pandey, is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 1, and ahead of it, the makers unveiled trailer 2, focusing more on the plot. Ek Din is reported to be a remake of the 2016 Thai romantic drama film, One Day, marking Sai Pallavi's debut in Hindi cinema. Although Aamir confirmed that Ek Din’s plot is completely different from Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, trailer 2 indeed gives vibes of the 2025 blockbuster film.
Ek Din Trailer 2 OUT
The trailer 2 of Ek Din sets up a deeply emotional romance shaped by a rare medical condition, Transient Global Amnesia. It follows a quiet IT professional played by Junaid Khan and Meera, portrayed by Sai Pallavi, who work in the same corporate office and grow closer during a company trip to Hokkaido.
Their story takes an unexpected turn when Meera is diagnosed with TGA. It is a rare medical condition that temporarily erases her recent memories for about 24 hours. In that fleeting opportunity, the two of them experience a deep, one-day love while travelling in Japan, knowing full well that once her memories return, she will completely forget him and the moments they spent together. Despite the inevitable heartbreak, he chooses to embrace that single day of love, making their story both beautiful and tragic.
Is Ek Din similar to Saiyaara?
At first glance, Ek Din and Saiyaara may seem similar because both revolve around intense, emotionally charged love stories. However, the core of their storytelling is quite different. Ek Din is built around the rare condition Transient Global Amnesia, where the romance exists within a fragile 24-hour window, making memory itself the central conflict. The love story is quiet, intimate, and philosophical. It raises the question of whether a single day in a relationship can hold meaning for a lifetime, especially when a person will never remember it at all.
In contrast, Saiyaara depicts the story of Vaani Batra, a 22-year-old battling early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, a rare form of dementia. The film highlights symptoms like severe memory loss, confusion, and personality changes, sparking discussions on this condition appearing in young adults.
What Did Aamir Khan Say About Saiyaara vs Ek Din?
Speaking to Variety India, Aamir Khan reacted to the comparisons between Ek Din and Saiyaara plots. He said, "No! No! Our film is completely different!”
Meanwhile, apart from Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, Ek Din also stars Kunal Kapoor, Kavin Dave, and Pragati Mishra in key roles.
