What is the story about?
Diljit Dosanjh's Satluj, previously titled Punjab '95, finally saw the light of day on July 3. Without any prior official announcements, the movie premiered
on ZEE5 on July 3. However, within 48 hours, it was taken down from the OTT platform. It is currently unavailable in India until further notice. After its release, the Honey Trehan directorial was rated 9.5 on IMDb. But the latest update is that it is no longer available on the rating aggregator website. In an interview, Niren Bhatt, the co-writer of this project, shared his reaction. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, too, posted his thoughts on social media.
Niren Bhatt reacts to Satluj's missing IMDb rating
Speaking to Hindustan Times, writer Niren opened up about Satluj's missing IMDb rating. He stated that nobody realised when the film was released and taken down. "Ab yeh IMDb rating ka… kisko problem tha, kya problem tha, koi communication hi nahi tha," he said.
On the other hand, director Sanjay Gupta shared a screenshot of missing rating for Satluj on the rating aggregator app. "RATED 9.5 TILL YESTERDAY. GONE TODAY," he wrote, adding that he never really trusted or believed in IMDb's rating. Looking at the Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Satluj's scenario, the filmmaker believes the missing rating proves how 'bogus' the website is. Take a look at his tweet below:
Niren Bhatt on Satluj's removal from OTT
Meanwhile, in an exclusive chat with Zoom, Niren Bhatt admitted that he was shocked by Satluj's removal from the OTT platform. However, the writer was relieved to know that a special committee was reportedly going to review the movie.
Taking a firm stand for the Honey Trehan directorial, he added, "I personally believe that whatever is shown in the film is because we are very thorough with whatever facts we are showing, we did a tremendous amount of research, we met hundreds of people, and whatever is shown in the movie is the judicial history of the country." He further added that everything shown in this film is proven by the Supreme court.
More about Satluj
Talking about the movie, it is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. He exposed the alleged extrajudicial killings and illegal cremations of hundreds of unidentified bodies in Punjab during the 1980s and 1990s. Diljit has portrayed Khalra's character, while Geetika Vidya Ohlyan is seen as Paramjit Kaur. Apart from them, the star cast includes Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder Vicky, Arjun Rampal, and others.
