Its Official! The Drishyam franchise is set to continue with a fourth instalment, with producer Antony Perumbavoor confirming that Drishyam 4 is in development.
The announcement comes months after Drishyam 3, which brought Mohanlal back as Georgekutty and emerged as a commercial success. It went on to gross Rs 242 crore worldwide. It became the highest-grossing instalment in the Drishyam series and one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time. The original Drishyam, released in 2013, became a landmark Malayalam thriller and was later remade in several Indian and international languages. Drishyam 2 followed in 2021, while Drishyam 3 expanded Georgekutty’s story further.
Drishyam 4 Confirmed With Mohanlal And Jeethu Joseph
Antony Perumbavoor confirmed the development of Drishyam 4 during his appearance at the Mazhavil Manorama Awards. The producer described the announcement as something he was making from his heart and made it clear that another instalment in the franchise is on the way. The visuals circulating on social media show Mohanlal smiling when the producer made the announcement.
The confirmation follows the success of Drishyam 3, which hit theatres on May 21, 2026. The film once again featured Mohanlal as Georgekutty, the family man who has repeatedly gone to extraordinary lengths to protect his loved ones.
Jeethu Joseph Had Already Discussed Drishyam 4
Director Jeethu Joseph had previously spoken about the possibility of making Drishyam 4. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmaker revealed that Antony Perumbavoor had repeatedly encouraged him to think about the next chapter after completing each film. “They said to keep thinking about the story; after the first, keep thinking about the second. Then, while shooting part two, he said let's start three. Now he's saying, ‘I think you should work on the fourth one’,” Jeethu Joseph said.
About Drishyam 3 Plot
In Drishyam 3, Georgekutty, now a successful film producer, finds himself caught in another elaborate trap as Prabhakar revives the investigation using fabricated evidence and fake profiles. Despite achieving financial success by turning his own hidden story into a blockbuster film, Georgekutty continues to live under the shadow of his past. Rani longs for a peaceful life, while Anu has moved on. However, Anju remains traumatised, making it difficult for the family to move forward. Meanwhile, journalists begin investigating the old case, while Geetha, who is living in the US, remains determined to uncover the truth. Prabhakar uses the renewed interest in the case to construct a fresh web of evidence around Georgekutty and his family.
