What is the story about?
Thalapathy Vijay is all set to contest the Tamil Nadu elections 2026. He will be representing his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The actor-politician
recently held a rally in Tirunelveli on April 8. While addressing people, he broke his silence on his last film, Jana Nayagan’s delay; divorce with wife Sangeetha Sornalingam; and alleged affair with actress Trisha Krishnan. During his election rally, the actor took an indirect dig at his opponent by stating that they only know to blame Vijay. The Thalapathy feels that people stood by him after a heavy blame was put on him for the Karur stampede issue, which claimed many lives. He claimed that all the trouble in his life was caused by his political opponents.
Vijay Attacks His Opponents
In one of the viral clips, Thalapathy Vijay has broken his silence on the delay in Jana Nayagan release. He didn’t take anyone's name but said that they (opponents) are blocking his film from release to affect him. He said, “Okay, what else can we do next? Let’s stop Jana Nayagan. You know who blocked this film from releasing. When that didn’t work, let’s make up new rules for Vijay and the levy SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). He should not come out and meet people.”
For the unversed, Vijay’s estranged wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, filed for divorce by claiming that he got into a romantic relationship with an actress, who is said to be Trisha Krishnan. While reacting to people targetting his personal life, the actor said that they waited till 30 days before the election to spread rumours about those close to him.
He said, “You know what I’m talking about; that didn't work either. No matter how many trials and pains you put me through, you can’t separate me from the people.” It has to be noted that Vijay and Sangeetha have two kids – son Jason Sanjay and daughter Dhivya Sasha.
Vijay Slams CM Stalin
During the same speech, Vijay also took a dig at Tamil Nadu CM, MK Stalin, by calling the DMK-ruled government a ‘cash box alliance’. He claimed that they built the coalition on ‘looted funds’. He concluded his speech by stating that it could be just an election for others, but for him and TVK, it is an emotion.

Jana Nayagan, is directed by H Vinoth. The film also stars Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol in key roles. It was supposed to release on January 9, but the CBFC didn’t pass the film with a censorship certificate. The makers are now trying their best to get the certificate from the censor board.
