Interestingly, the movie completes a hat trick of December's first week's blockbuster releases, followed by Ranbir Kapoor's Animal and Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2.

Film critic and movie trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared that the December 1st-week releases in the past 2 years have been blockbusters, with Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar completing the hat-trick of hits.

He wrote. "IT'S A HAT-TRICK: THE *FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER* PROVES TO BE A MONEYSPINNER...For three consecutive years, the *first week of December* has delivered major boxoffice triumphs. 2023 [1 Dec]: #Animal and #SamBahadur, 2024 [5 Dec]: #Pushpa2, 2025 [5 Dec]: #Dhurandhar."

Adarsh went on to add, "The period has clearly become a lucrative window for big-ticket releases, with audiences turning up in massive numbers and exhibitors witnessing exceptional footfalls.

Concluding the note, he wrote, "However, while release dates do give films a strategic advantage, it ultimately boils down to content... A favourable release period may attract initial attention, but only solid storytelling, strong performances, and impactful execution can sustain momentum and drive long-term success. The December first week hat-trick simply reinforces a time-tested truth: timing helps, but content wins."

Dhurandhar's winning streak at box office

Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar is maintaining its unstoppable momentum at the box office following its release on December 5, 2025. As per Sacnilk, the film earned an impressive Rs 26.5 crore on Tuesday, December 9, bringing its total four-day collection to Rs 152.75 crore. The film made a solid debut with Rs 28 crore on opening day and saw remarkable growth over the weekend, with a 14.29% increase on Saturday, December 6, and a 34.38% jump on Sunday, December 7. On Monday, December 8, the movie had earned Rs 22 crore.

About Dhurandhar

Dhurandhar follows the story of Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal (played by R. Madhavan), who heads a high-risk mission to dismantle a terror network in Pakistan. Ranveer Singh plays a Punjabi youth, recruited from prison and trained to infiltrate Karachi’s criminal underworld. The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead, alongside Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and R. Madhavan. The makers have also confirmed that the sequel, Dhurandhar 2, will release in cinemas on March 19, 2026.
