Hera Pheri 3 fans can take a sigh of relief. The blockbuster comedy franchise's next installment is bound to happen despite facing rough waters on several
occasions. Actor Paresh Rawal, who infused life into his character of Baburao Ganpat Rao Apte, has confirmed that the third part is on track, but there are conditions. He addressed reports of trouble between him and co-star and producer Akshay Kumar, who played Raju in the film series. The movie also brings back Suniel Shetty as Shyam. While Rawal's assurance brought some respite, things still remain in a state of limbo, given how Hera Pheri 3 has been facing roadblocks ever since it was confirmed that original director Priyadarshan will return to helm the threequel.
Paresh Rawal clarified read reason behind Hera Pheri 3 delay
It stems from the recent update where Paresh Rawal clarified that he was not the reason behind Hera Pheri 3's delay, it was due to unresolved matters between Akshay and the producers. However, he stated that the movie was in the right direction and would go on floors soon.
Is Akshay Kumar the reason behind delay?
Sometime back, reports surfaced that Rawal had left the film abruptly, leading to Akshay, who also serves as a co-producer, suing the senior actor for Rs 25 crore. Stressing the money involved, Rawal spoke in a recent interview with The Lavari Show, where he subtly held Akshay accountable for the trouble, calling it a "technical issue." He said, "All this that had blown up in between that Akshay Kumar has sued me for Rs 25 crore, that is all okay yaa, it’s like kachva chaap agarbatti."
The 70-year-old assured that he was waiting to sign on the dotted line once the issue involving Akshay and the producers got resolved.
Paresh Rawal on-off appearance in Hera Pheri 3 cast
Paresh Rawal's blame on Akshay isn't new. Earlier, he held his co-star responsible too, even though it meant different reasons.
It all started in May 2025, when Paresh Rawal decided to walk out of Hera Pheri 3 in the light of rumoured creative differences with Priyadarshan. Rawal claimed that he did not find his role appealing anymore. At that time, reports claimed Akshay considered legal action against Rawal due to his sudden exit. In June 2025, however, Rawal was reported to have rejoined the project. He said the matters were resolved and sought the makers to "respect" the popularity of the fan-favourite franchise.
Priyadarshan assured no personal conflicts
But things did not stop there. In September 2025, Hera Pheri 3 production halted when Rawal exited the project again for a brief time. Though Priyadarshan confirmed that there were no personal conflicts, he attributed the turmoil to external pressures, hinting at some "bad forces" being at play. It was later reported that the shoot will begin in February 2026.
