What is the story about?
Atlee's upcoming film Raaka is one of 2027's most anticipated releases. The film marks Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone's first onscreen collaboration.
Deepika had earlier worked with Atlee on Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan. Apart from her, Mrunal Thakur is rumoured to be a part of this sci-fi actioner. The actress' name has been linked to Raaka for two years, but she has remained tight-lipped about it. It was only recently when she addressed the speculation; however, she neither denied nor confirmed the development. Mrunal revealed she's flooded with movie offers, but she hasn't signed any movie in nine months.
Is Mrunal Thakur doing Raaka?
In an interview with Mid-Day, Mrunal was asked if she is a part of Allu Arjun and Deepika's Raaka. To this, the actress said she is waiting for a meaningful role to come her way. "Now, whatever announcement has to happen, it will happen on my social media handle and then I’d love to talk about it," she added.
Although she hasn't signed any project, the actress is at the top of movie offers. She further told the publication that she doesn't resonate with the stories that are being made. And that's why Mrunal has taken some time off as she doesn't want to question herself on set every day.
"I have to spend 120 days on a movie set. So, it’s my conscious effort to sign movies that give me not just love and recognition, but also creative satisfaction. When I go to bed, I don’t want to think that I did bad work. I want to do good work that will be remembered even 30 years down the line," said Mrunal.
Mrunal Thakur's work front
Work-wise, Mrunal has had a busy 2026. The actress featured in not one but four movies. She was seen in Do Deewane Seher Mein with Siddhant Chaturvedi. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, the romantic drama received mixed feedback after its theatrical release. Mrunal also shared screen space with Varun Dhawan in Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Helmed by veteran filmmaker David Dhawan, the film failed to do wonders at the box office.
That's not all; the actress collaborated with actor Adivi Sesh for Dacoit: A Love Story. And most recently, she featured in Pooja Meri Jaan alongside Human Qureshi. The crime thriller, directed by Navjot Gulati, was released on ZEE5 on October 2. Keep following this space for more updates!
