Ever since Tom Holland and Zendaya starrer Spider-Man: Brand New Day released in theatres on July 31, it has been breaking records. Now, as per Sony India,
Brand New Day has rewritten the history books at the Indian box office once again. The Tom Holland and Zendaya-starrer has crossed the Rs 550 crore mark in India, emerging as the biggest-grossing Hollywood film in the country and further cementing 2026 as a landmark year for Hollywood releases. The Marvel-Sony superhero film achieved the milestone during its third weekend, despite facing competition from new Hindi releases including Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 and Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947. According to box-office reports, the film had already crossed Rs 550 crore by Day 18, after adding approximately Rs 22.80 crore during its third weekend. Sony Pictures India shared the news alongside a caption, "The world may have forgotten Peter, but India made sure the record books never will. Rs 550 Cr+ and still counting! #SpiderManBrandNewDay in cinemas now, in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam & Kannada. Book your tickets via the link in bio!" The achievement comes after an extraordinary theatrical run that began with a record-breaking opening. Brand New Day registered one of the biggest Hollywood debuts ever recorded in India and quickly established itself as a box-office phenomenon. Its strong performance continued through the first two weeks, with the film adding around Rs 100 crore during its second week alone and taking its India gross to approximately Rs 523.64 crore by the end of Day 14. The film's third weekend saw a significant drop of around 70 percent compared with the previous weekend, largely because of fresh competition. However, Brand New Day still managed to collect approximately Rs 27 crore over the three-day weekend, including Rs 10.50 crore on its third Sunday. Its ability to maintain momentum despite new releases highlights the extraordinary popularity of the Spider-Man character in India. Tom Holland's version of Peter Parker has developed a particularly strong following among Indian audiences, while the film's Marvel Cinematic Universe connections have helped generate substantial interest among franchise fans. The record is also significant because Brand New Day has arrived during what is shaping up to be Hollywood's biggest year in India. Industry observers have pointed to the film's unprecedented screen allocation as another indication of its popularity. Nearly 70 percent of daily movie screenings were reportedly allotted to the Spider-Man film during its opening period, a level described as historic for a Hollywood release in India. The film's success is not limited to India. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed the $2 billion mark worldwide, becoming Sony Pictures' highest-grossing film and one of only a handful of movies in history to reach the milestone. Box Office Mojo currently lists its worldwide gross at approximately $2.02 billion.
