What is the story about?
All eyes are on Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's Ramayana. Releasing during Diwali week globally, the Nitesh Tiwari-directed mythological drama is among the most
anticipated releases of 2026. Eagerness comes with high stakes. Mounted on a mammoth multi-thousand crore budget, including the second part of the franchise, Ramayana is positioned as a premium theatrical experience. The advance booking across India opened on Dussehra (October 20), whereas pre-sales had started much earlier for the overseas market. Till Monday, October 26, Ramayana has sold around 2.25 lakh tickets worldwide.
Ramayana pre-sales worldwide
Reportedly, Ramayana has already earned Rs 20.50 crore worldwide in advance gross. This data is said to include the collection from the film’s prepaid previews on November 4 and opening day advances for November 5. While bookings for paid previews in India are yet to begin, the international audience has expressed keen interest in watching the film before the rest.
Delay in Ramayana advance booking
Advance booking for Ramayana in India kicked off after a reported hurdle. A Bollywood Hungama report revealed that a disagreement between the film's distributors and exhibitors over revenue-sharing terms was one of the reasons behind the delay in opening the window for the audience.
A source told the portal that the distributors of Ramayana were reportedly demanding a 60 per cent revenue share in the first week, and 50 per cent in the second week; the third week could be 40 per cent. Normally, the distributor's share, even for big films, is 52.5 per cent in Week 1, 45 per cent in Week 2 and 37.5 per cent in Week 3. “This is significantly higher than the usual sharing terms followed for big-budget films. As a result, exhibitors, who are understandably concerned, are reluctant to agree to these terms and negotiations are currently underway,” the source shared.
Ramayana ticket prices
Ramayana's ticket prices have been the talk of the town. Premium theatres and multiplexes in metro cities are going houseful despite having to shell out as much as Rs 3000 per ticket.
