Mrunal Thakur’s Controversial Statement
Mrunal Thakur, who is best known by Telugu film audience for for her memorable performances in Sita Ramam and Hi Nanna, recently spoke about her selective approach to choosing films. During a media interaction while promoting her upcoming film Dacoit, she revealed, that with a big and heavy heart, she has rejected many big-budget, well-packaged films due to the benchmark set by the roles Sita Mahalakshmi and Yashna.
While the comment shows her commitment to work on meaningful roles, it quickly sparked created different reactions online. Some netizens pointed out inconsistencies, writing that her work in films Hindi films and even Vijay Deverakonda's Family Star, failed to meet expectations of audience.
Film buffs have said that if Mrunal Thakur truly values quality, her roles in certain commercial films appears different that what she is saying. On the other hand, some have come in support of her. They insist that her statement is about her choices within Telugu cinema, where she has been selective about picking films.
About Dacoit
Mrunal Thakur’s next film, Dacoit, headlined by Adivi Sesh, the early visuals promises to showcase a new dimension of her acting. Scheduled for release on April 10, the film’s trailer has already generated hype for showcasing of love, action in a plot that explores the concept of betrayal. During the trailer launch, Mrunal spoke about her decision to join the project, saying that the story shows a different shade of love. Apart from Mrunal Thakur and Adivi Sesh, Dacoit features a strong ensemble, including Anurag Kashyap in a powerful role, as well as Prakash Raj, Sunil, Atul Kulkarni, Zayn Marie Khan, and Kamakshi Bhaskarla.
Dacoit follows the journey of an angry convict seeking revenge against his ex-girlfriend, who betrayed him. As he devises a dangerous plan, the story evolves shows the course of their relationship. Shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, the screenplay is co-written by Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo. The film’s music is composed by Bheems Ceciroleo, with Danush Bhaskar handling cinematography and Kodati Pavan Kalyan as editor. Production design is by Sri Nagendra Tangala.
Produced by Supriya Yarlagadda under the Annapurna Studios banner, in collaboration with SS Creations and Suniel Narang Production, Dacoit stands as one of the major releases for the week. With Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla postponed to April 16, the film is expected to pull crowd in Hindi as well.
