More about Samuk
Samuk has been developed as a survival-action thriller that ventures into alien territory. The project has reportedly been in development for more than two years, with the creative team working on a world that combines military realism, survival horror and alien mythology. The film is being designed as a large-scale theatrical experience, with the makers aiming to create an expansive cinematic world rather than a conventional action entertainer. Vipul Amrutlal Shah is producing the film, while Kanishk Varma is directing it. Aashin A. Shah is attached as co-producer.
Samuk also marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah after a gap of 13 years. The duo has previously collaborated on several successful projects, beginning with Aankhen in 2002. Their association continued with films including Waqt: The Race Against Time, Namastey London and Action Replayy. Shah also produced Singh Is Kinng, which featured Akshay in the lead role.
One of the biggest attractions of Samuk is its approach to the central alien creature. Instead of relying solely on conventional visual effects, the makers have brought on board acclaimed international creature effects designer Alec Gillis. He has received an Academy Award nomination and worked on major franchises including Alien and Predator, has designed the main creature for Samuk.
The film has also assembled an international action team to create its physical action sequences. British action director Luke Tumber has joined the project to design and direct the action, with the makers aiming for a physically demanding and grounded style.
