Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups, starring Yash and helmed by director Geetu Mohandas, is one of the most awaited films of the year. However, since its
first teaser, the stylish actioner has been facing backlash for its portrayal of women. A lot has been said and discussed about its 'Ladies and Ladies' teaser and the trailer. Amid the criticism, Yash has defended his film. At the recently held pre-release event of Toxic in Hyderabad, the rocking star addressed the same and shared a message for his female fans. He said that, contrary to the chatter online, the movie has a special voice for women and that they will enjoy watching it.
Yash DEFENDS Toxic Amid Backlash
During the Toxic pre-release event at Hyderabad's Malla Reddy University, Yash said, "I see a lot of girls here."
Talking about his commercial hit KGF and latest with Geetu Mohandas, he addressed the backlash around ToxicToxic. "Society... they may say, they may not accept it but the point is everybody will look upon you," he said before adding, "I am not respected for my money, I am respected for my work, and I know the director will prove that every woman and every girl can face every kind of situation, express their thoughts, express their vision and succeed in this society. There’s a voice for women in this film, unlike how it is coming across in the trailer. Watch the movie and enjoy. All you girls, you will have a blast."
Earlier, Yash had also broken his silence on the intimate scenes and alleged "vulgarity." Speaking on Aap Ki Adaalat, the KGF star said that labelling it vulgarity is wrong and maintained that the film had not crossed that line.
He explained that certain scenes were shot aesthetically and that the visual impact was part of the filmmaker’s creative expression. Yash further stressed that the movie was made with a specific intent, with emotions playing a crucial role. He added that audiences would be able to understand Mohandas' vision and the context behind the scenes better once they watched the complete film.
Toxic Is Coming
Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups is 2026. The action thriller features a strong female cast, including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth.
It has received an 'A' certificate from the CBFC.
The film's advance booking sales have already left everyone impressed. Reportedly, it has already minted Rs 30 crore before its grand release.
