Mallika Prasad is an actor, director and filmmaker with a career rooted in powerful storytelling. She has worked extensively across films, television and theatre, earning several National Awards for both acting and direction. Some of her most notable film performances include lead roles in Kanooru Heggadithi (1999), Devi Ahilya Bai (2003) and Doosra (2006). Early in her career, she also appeared in Kanoor Ki Thakurani and went on to establish herself as a formidable presence in the world of acting.
Mallika Prasad's work in TV, films, theatre
Born in Bangalore, Mallika completed her Masters in Performance Making from Goldsmiths College, London, followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Acting from the National School of Drama, Delhi. She later became a familiar face on regional television, starring in popular shows such as Garva, Guptagamini and Megha-Mayoori, where she played the lead role. In 2017, she headlined the Kannada serial Nagakanikke, which won the award for Best Kannada Serial.
Her acclaimed stage work includes directing Brian Friel’s Translations and performing the solo piece Hidden in Plain Sight, which premiered in London and later won the Infallibles Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She has also received the Charles Wallace India Trust Scholars’ Research Grant and the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre National Award. She has worked in Anurag Kashyap's Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat and played the role of Zubeida in Killer Soup.
