About Indonesian remake of Drishyam
The story, originally written by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal, has been remade in several Indian languages and also in international languages like Sinhala and Chinese. The Indonesian remake adds another chapter to the franchise's ever-expanding global legacy.
Cast of Indonesian remake
The film stars the real-life married couple, Vino G. Bastian and Marsha Timothy, in opposing and emotionally charged roles. Miracle in Cell No. 7 star Bastian plays a loving father who will do anything to protect his family after a dangerous incident puts their lives in danger. This role originally belonged to Mohanlal, who also reprised it.
Timothy, who is internationally known for Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts, plays the determined policeman who investigates him. Their casting has already created a buzz, with audiences eager to see the real-life couple go head-to-head on screen as rivals. It's the character first played in Malayalam by Asha Sharath and Tabu in Hindi.
Supporting cast members include Niken Anjani, Ziva Magnolya, Gunawan and Pritt Timothy.
Plot of Indonesian version
Like the original, the Indonesian remake follows a simple family man who finds himself caught up in a tense criminal investigation as he tries to protect his loved ones. The story mixes emotional family drama with suspense, deceit and moral quandaries.

The adaptation is scripted and directed by Danial Rifki, who previously directed Dendam Malam Kelam, an Indonesian remake of the Spanish thriller El Cuerpo. His experience in serialised mystery dramas makes him a good choice for the project, producers think.
According to Variety, Falcon Pictures producer Frederica said, "We are thrilled to bring this iconic story to life with Danial Rifki at the helm. His experience in masterfully adapting Oriol Paulo’s work proves he understands the intricate mechanics of a world-class thriller. Pitting Vino G. Bastian against Marsha Timothy as protagonist and antagonist adds a layer of emotional and cinematic tension that is truly unprecedented in our industry."
Original franchise producer Antony Perumbavoor also expressed pride over the remake, saying the story's ability to cross languages and borders proves its universal appeal.
Release date of Indonesian adaptation
Ayah, Aku Mau Cerita… has already wrapped production, with the film now gearing for its theatrical debut on August 20. This release comes after the arrival of Drishyam 3 in cinemas.
