Fans of Prabhas, will have to wait longer for release of The Raja Saab as its is now aimed for Sankranthi 2026, January 9. The move is due to several business
stakeholders from the film industry who prefer the festive season as the date. Despite Bollywood distributors wanting a December 2025 release, pending post-production work has caused the delay.
Prabhas' The Raja Saab Will Release In January 2026?
In a recent interview, producer TG Vishwa Prasad revealed that the team is now aiming at Sankranthi 2026 release, specifically January 9, 2026. Initially announced for December 5, 2025, the film’s release seems to be getting a change again—to capitalise on the big festive market.
According to the producer as revealed in the interview with Great Andhra website, this change comes after discussions with business stakeholders who believe the Sankranthi could offer better returns for the film. In the interview, the producer also revealed plans for a sequel to the film. Interestingly, Bollywood buyers associated with the film are reportedly asking the makers to stick to the original December 5 release. However, TG Vishwa Prasad said the pending patchwork and songs as key reasons for the delay. Adding fuel to the speculation, the birthday poster for lead actress Malavika Mohanan—who makes her Telugu debut with this film—did not confirm any release date. This has further confirmed industry buzz that the film will not release in 2025.
Joining Prabhas in this supernatural comedy are Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Ridhi Kumar, who play key roles.
Meanwhile, Tamil superstar Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan, will be released in theatres on January 9, 2026, during Pongal.
