What is the story about?
Punjab has been battling its worst deluge since 1988. More than 35000 people have been affected, and 37 were reported dead after 23 districts received
extreme rainfall. Diljit Dosanjh is among the celebrities who stepped forward to help with relief activities. The Punjabi singer-actor has adopted 10 villages affected by the deluge. Now, in a video statement, Dosanjh thanked NGOs, relief volunteers, the media and other organisations that are playing a key role in helping the victims.
Diljit Dosanjh on Punjab Flood
Diljit said in his statement, “Punjab ke haalaat badh ki vajah se bohot kharab hai. Logon ke ghar beh chuke hai, fasle tabah ho chuki hai. Pashu, gay, bhains mar chuke hai. Logon ki zindagiyan barbad ho chuki hai. Punjab zakhmi hai par haara nahi hai. Punjab ki godh se uthe hai, godh liya hai aur Punjab ki godh mein marna hai. Jitne bhi peedit Parivar hai, hum unse kehna chahte hai ki hum unke saath hai. Aisa nahi ki raashan pani deke baat khatam hoti hai. Jab tak unki zindagiyan dobara nahi shuru hoti, hum unke saath hai.”

Diljit adopts 10 Punjab villages
He further lauded the spirit of the citizens of Punjab for fighting back against adversities and calamities in the past. The Amar Singh Chamkila actor assured that the situation will return to normalcy soon.
Amid the deluge, Diljit adopted 10 villages across Gurdaspur and Amritsar in collaboration with NGOs and local authorities. The actor-singer’s team shared the update on Instagram and revealed the course of action planned to provide help to the victims.
Besides Diljit, Sonu Sood and Randeep Hooda have been actively working towards providing relief to the victims. Ammy Virk, Sonam Bajwa and Gippy Grewal also stepped forward on social media and expressed concern over the situation.
