What is the story about?
The 79th British Academy Film Awards aka BAFTA 2026 is set to stream on February 23 in India. Presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts,
the honours will be given for the best feature-length films and documentaries of any nationality that were screened at British cinemas in 2025. When and where to watch BAFTA 2026 in India
The international event is set to be streamed live on SonyLIV through live streaming on BAFTA’s YouTube channel. It usually gets aired late at night around 12:30 am IST on Monday, February 23 since the event will start on February 22 at around 7 pm GMT. This comes right after the nominations announcement in January.
Who will be the host and presenters
Alan Cumming is set to host this year's BAFTA for the first time, replacing David Tennant's host duties for the last two consecutive years of 2024 and 2025. The ceremony will take place live on February 22, 2026, at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
The British Academy has now also revealed that a wide range of celebrated talent will be presenting the acclaimed awards on Sunday. Our Bollywood star Alia Bhatt is one of the presenter, making her the third Indian after Deepika Padukone in 2024 and Priyanka Chopra in 2021.
The list also includes Aimee Lou Wood, Bryan Cranston, David Jonsson, Delroy Lindo, Gillian Anderson, Glenn Close, Olivia Cooke, Patrick Dempsey, Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Hudson, Miles Caton, Emily Watson and Stellan Skarsgard, Aaron Pierre, Alicia Vikander, Erin Doherty, Hannah Waddingham, Kathryn Hahn, Kerry Washington, Little Simz, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Milly Alcock, Minnie Driver, Noah Jupe, Regé-Jean Page, Riz Ahmed, Stormzy and Warwick Davis.
BAFTA 2026 nominations
The nominations of this year's BAFTA was announced on January 27 by British actors David Jonsson and Aimee Lou Wood. T. Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another was the most nominated film with 14 across all categories. Next was Ryan Coogler's Sinners with 13 nominations, followed by Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme and Chloe Zhao's Hamnet with 11 nominations each. Frankenstein and British film I Swear also picked up several nominations.
