Article 370's commercial and critical success
Article 370 is a political action thriller, directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar. The story is inspired by the events that led to the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The film centres around the 2019 revocation of the state's special status. Yami plays the role of intelligence officer Zooni Haksar on a risky mission to bring stability to the region.
Article 370 performed well at the box office and turned out to be one of the successful mid-budget Hindi releases of the year. Yami's performance was praised and she received a lot of critical acclaim. She even underwent a lot of prep for the movie, which involved a lot of high-octane action scenes along with an emotional quotient.
Yami on playing an intelligence officer
In an interview with Firstpost in 2024, Yami said, "It had to be nothing filmy or gimmicky. I am playing someone who is based on a real-life character. There is a female intelligence officer out there who has done all this. I owe so much to her and I hope I had done justice to that character."
Yami Gautam's body of work
Yami Gautam has made her mark with films like Vicky Donor, Kaabil, Uri: The Surgical Strike, A Thursday and OMG 2. Article 370 was yet another collaboration of hers with her husband and producer Aditya Dhar, who had earlier directed Uri starring her and Vicky Kaushal. Dhar recently delivered the blockbuster Dhurandhar series. Article 370's commercial success further cemented Yami's footing as a bankable actress.
