What is the story about?
Pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs' Travis Kelce recently said 'I do' at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden. The lavish wedding reportedly
saw over 1,000 A-list guests, including Hollywood stars, athletes, business moguls and more. While the couple is yet to share pictures or videos from the grand ceremony, several details from the big day have surfaced online. Now, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani has revealed that Swift reportedly paid a massive amount towards additional security arrangements for the wedding. As part of the event permit requirements, the global pop star covered more than $160,000 in police overtime expenses.
Taylor Swift Paid THIS Amount To NYC For Wedding With Travis Kelce
Mayor Zohran Mamdani revealed the details during a press conference on Friday. He confirmed that the added law enforcement costs were paid by the singer.
When asked whether the Grammy-winning singer would be paying the city back for the police overtime, he responded, "Taylor Swift will be paying … has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event. That was a permit that was finalised, I think, in just the days before the event itself."
For those unaware, in the US, large events held in public spaces often require official approvals and additional support from local authorities. When occasions involve measures such as road restrictions, crowd management or extra security personnel, organisers are typically responsible for covering the related costs through permit charges.
But before you assume that this was a massive amount, wait until you hear about the reported eight-figure cost of Swift and Kelce's lavish wedding. Estimates surrounding the couple's grand celebration have been making the rounds online, though there has been no official confirmation regarding the actual expenses.
