Rakul Preet Singh has responded to the alleged Income Tax Department raids that were conducted at over 12 locations across Mumbai, including the production
house owned by her father-in-law, Vashu Bhagnani and her husband, Jackky Bhagnani. In an official statement, the actress clarified that the search operation was not linked to her. Rakul set the record straight by confirming that she is not involved in any kind of illegal foreign remittance in a personal capacity or on behalf of any production house. Vashu and Jackky are yet to respond to the IT raids.
Rakul Preet Singh's statement on IT raids
In her statement, Rakul said the search was not pertaining to her and, being from the Armed Forces background, she paved a path for herself in the film industry without a Godfather. “I have come up through sheer hardwork & as a responsible law-abiding citizen have been paying my due taxes since the age of 20 years,” she wrote.
Rakul clarified, “I am not involved in any kind of illegal Foreign remittance in personal capacity or on behalf of any Production house. I would also add here that I do not hold any Benami property on behalf of anyone anywhere in the country or abroad. Neither ANYONE has EVER gifted me any property at anytime nor do I accept such expensive gifts as a principle.”
She further added that facts must be verified before circulating ‘false, malicious and speculative’ reports. The actress said ‘commercial pressures’ shouldn’t cost of someone's reputation and livelihood.

After the news of the IT raids broke, Vashu Bhagnani, who is in London, was admitted to a hospital. Further details about his health are yet to be disclosed.
Pooja Entertainment's financial losses
In 2024, Pooja Entertainment, owned by Vashu, was in the news for not clearing dues of actors and other crew members of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff-led film incurred massive losses after failing at the box office. Rumours were rife that the Bhagnanis sold their Juhu office due to a debt of Rs 250 crore. The veteran producer denied the speculation and said the space was being renovated.
