Having said, the makers of Taapsee and Kani's movie haven't made an official announcement about the courtroom drama's OTT release date yet.
For those unaware, Assi follows the story of a woman named Parima who is s**ually assaulted by five men in a car. Following this traumatic incident, Taapsee aka Raavi fights a legal battle against the accused in court, hoping to seek justice for Parima. In this film, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub essays the character of Vinay while Kumud Mishra is seen as Kartik. Manoj Pahwa, on the other hand, plays the role of Deepraj in this courtroom drama.
Apart from the lead and supporting star cast, Seema Pahwa, Naseeruddin Shah and Supriya Pathak have special appearances in the film. Renowned casting director Mukesh Chhabra has worked on the casting for Assi.
Taapsee Pannu on women-led and unconventional films
Meanwhile, in an interview with PTI, Taapsee stated that women-led and unconventional films like Assi are on the verge of extinction. The actress added that commercial cinema follows a certain template and films like hers don't fit into the same. She further dismissed the notion that the aforementioned kind of films will always find home on streaming platform. She mentioned that the OTT platforms have shifted their focus to attracting massy audiences.
According to the Assi actress, streaming platforms want to bring the theatre audience to the medium. And that's the reason she feels women-led and unconventional films are on verge of extinction unless people realise they need to watch these movies.
Taapsee Pannu's work front
Meanwhile, on the work front, Taapsee has Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan? with Pratik Gandhi lined up. No official release date has been announced yet.
