at Delhi's Jantar Mantar and on the streets of Mumbai, others have chosen to stay away from the issue. Several A-list stars have faced criticism from angry students for not speaking up in their support. Amid this, Alia Bhatt has joined the conversation. After Salman Khan, she penned a note expressing solidarity with the students. She wrote that the past few days had been an emotional journey for her, but added that the hope and courage of the protesters helped heal her.
Alia Bhatt Breaks Silence Over Student Protests
Alia wrote, "The last few days have broken my heart and then mended it, again and again, with hope. Behind every student standing their ground is a dream, a family's hope, a journey of countless sacrifices. They represent not just themselves but everyone who has supported them, while creating a better path for those who will come after them."
Alia further expressed that their courage humbled her and their determination served as a reminder for everyone to listen to the voices of those who would shape the country’s future. She concluded her message by writing, "For the students. By the students. The future is theirs."
While Alia had remained silent on the student protests so far, her mother Soni Razdan was among the first few celebrities to show support for Sonam Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike amid the movement. "Dear Sonam Wangchuk, For your health, we all do pray. Please do not leave us in this way. Please live to fight another day. Please stay. Please end your fast today," she had urged the activist.
The Alpha actress had been facing backlash from a section of the internet for staying silent despite having a massive following among youngsters. However, her latest statement has silenced some of her critics. Currently, her comments are flooded with praise for "having a spine" and "using her voice, even if it came a little late."
Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, Imran Khan and Abhay Deol are among the celebrities who have come out in solidarity with the students. They have also urged the government to have peaceful discussions and hear their appeals. Salman Khan, Preity Zinta, R Madhavan and others have reacted to the movement.
