SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited magnum opus SSMB29 is all set to move into its next phase of filming, and the latest update has left fans thrilled. Starring
Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles, the high-octane adventure thriller has already wrapped three crucial schedules in Hyderabad and Odisha earlier this year.
Team SSMB29 to fly to East Africa
Initially, the film’s team had planned to begin shooting in Kenya in July, but the schedule was postponed due to ongoing political clashes in the country. However, in a media interaction, producer KL Narayana has now confirmed that the movie’s next leg of filming will finally roll from the third week of September in East Africa. The cast and crew, led by Rajamouli, will shoot breathtaking action sequences in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, and the picturesque locales of Tanzania, as per a report in Telugu123.
The East African backdrop is expected to add a never-seen-before scale to the film’s action blocks, in line with Rajamouli’s reputation for pushing cinematic boundaries. With a reported budget of a staggering Rs 1,000 crore, SSMB29 is already being touted as one of the most expensive films ever made in Indian cinema. The makers are eyeing a global release in 2027, with MM Keeravani composing the soundtrack. Fans can expect the first glimpse of the film this November.

SSMB29 named Gen 63 or Globe Trotter?
Adding to the intrigue is the ongoing speculation around the film’s title. Earlier reports in Peepingmoon suggested that the project might be called Gen 63 with Mahesh Babu playing a man from the 63rd generation of a revered lineage on a mythical quest to recover rare artifacts. The story is said to mix Indian mythology with science fiction, deeply inspired by the Ramayana and set against the backdrop of Kashi. Priyanka Chopra reportedly essays the role of an intrepid explorer, while Prithviraj Sukumaran plays a high-tech antagonist.
However, on Mahesh Babu’s birthday (August 9), Rajamouli shared a special poster carrying the words Globe Trotter. Fans are now speculating that this could be the film’s official title, though the confirmation is expected in November.
