What is the story about?
For actors, some roles go beyond performance and become deeply personal journeys. That seems to be the case for Ranbir Kapoor, who is currently immersed
in bringing the epic Ramayana to life on the big screen. While the film itself is mounted on a grand scale, what makes the experience even more special for the actor is how it has organically seeped into his personal life. In a sweet revelation, Ranbir shared how his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Raha Kapoor, has developed a deep curiosity about the story and the film. Her innocent and intriguing questions about his shoot has won us over.
Ranbir Kapoor used to narrate stories from Ramayana to Raha
Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up about Raha's reaction to him working in Ramayana. Speaking about his experience, the actor shared in a chat with AP that working on Ramayana coincided with a significant phase in his life - becoming a father. He described how, after portraying Lord Ram on set, he would return home to narrate stories from the epic to his young daughter.
Despite her tender age, Raha’s curiosity has left dad Ranbir pleasantly surprised. He revealed that she often asks him questions about his day on set, particularly about the characters from the epic. He recalled, "Just to see a three-and-a-half-year-old so engaged and asking, 'Did you shoot with Hanuman today? Did you shoot with Sita today?" For Ranbir, these interactions were very special as he added, "She has so much interest in the story, which tells a lot. It's in our DNA." We are sure that Raha will be very happy to see her father play Maryada Purushottam Shree Rama onscreen.
Ranbir Kapoor's double role in Ramayana
Ranbir Kapoor is truly pushing his creative boundaries with the film. In another interaction with Collider, he confirmed that he will be seen in a double role in Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The actor will portray both Lord Rama and Lord Parshuram - two avatars of Lord Vishnu. Speaking about the challenge, Ranbir explained that playing two divine characters required a nuanced approach. He focused on differentiating their body language, emotional depth, and spiritual essence. For him, understanding the motivations and philosophies of each character was crucial to delivering an authentic performance. He added that internalising the spirituality and emotional core of the roles made the portrayal more organic.
Ramayana is being shot in two part. The first film will hit the theatres this Diwali. The main cast includes Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey.
