What is the story about?
Stree 3 has been delayed by a year. Producer Dinesh Vijan confirmed the development at an event that was held in Mumbai today. Rajkummar Rao, who plays
the male lead in the horror-comedy, joined for a conversation. They have teamed up for the upcoming biopic, Prahaar, based on Ujjwal Nikam, the lawyer who stood against Ajmal Kasab after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Dinesh also shared an update on the shoot schedule of Vicky Kaushal’s Mahavatar. Currently, Rajkummar is busy with the promotions of Prahaar and will complete Dada before returning to the world of Stree.
Rajkummar Rao reveals Amar Kaushik's reaction to Stree's success
Speaking at the 26th edition of FICCI Frames, Rajkummar recalled Amar Kaushik, director of Stree, reacting to the film’s box office success. He said the filmmaker couldn’t believe his directorial debut performed well. For the sequel, he was prepared and wanted it to mint more money at the ticket counter.
Dinesh Vijan shares Stree 3 update
Dinesh shared, “Amar is an integral part of Stree and horror-comedy franchise. He directs our most ambitious film at the end of January that is Mahavatar. He finishes that in June, and at the end of next year, we go on floor, so Stree 3 arrives in 2028. Anything that you have thought, remove from your mind. If I say anything more. He would be upset with me because he has finished writing it, and he thinks I give out too many spoilers. Everything you have loved about it you will get, but where it starts and ends, that will be a revelation. It might be a nice Independence Day or Christmas present in 2028.”
About Stree 2
The sequel to the 2018 horror-comedy Stree focuses on the new antagonist who has unlocked fear in Chanderi. Known as Sarkata, he targets modern and progressive women. Vicky (Rajkummar Rao), Jana (Abhishek Banerjee), Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana) and Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi) reunite with the anonymous girl (Shraddha Kapoor) to tackle the headless beast.
All about Vicky Kaushal's Mahavatar
Mahavatar, starring Vicky Kaushal, was also postponed. The actor will start shooting for the mythological drama after the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War, which is scheduled for January 21, 2027. Vicky is currently undergoing a physical transformation for the film. The release date of Mahavatar has not been announced yet. The rest of the cast will be unveiled soon.
