What is the story about?
Mammootty and Mohanlal’s upcoming film Patriot has hit a roadblock just few days before its release. The Censor Board has asked for cuts in the film, one
of the changes includes removing a potentially controversial scene. This is because it is similar to the name of a prominent politician’s son. Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, the political thriller marks the reunion of Kerala’s two biggest stars after nearly two decades, creating huge anticipation among fans. Alongside Mammootty and Mohanlal, the film features Nayanthara, Darshana Rajendran, and others. With a revised release date of May 1, Patriot now prepares for its theatrical debut amid box office competition with Vaazha 2 and Bharathanatyam 2: Mohiniyattam.
Mammootty-Mohanlal’s Patriot: Will The Film Release On Time?
The Censor Board has reportedly ordered modifications to Patriot. The filmmakers completed re-editing at Lal Media Studio in Kochi and are preparing to resubmit the film. These changes aim to ensure the political thriller can release without controversy while retaining its plot.
Ahead of its release, Patriot ran into disagreements with the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) over revenue sharing. Producers initially demanded a 60:40 split in their favor for the first two weeks, sparking opposition. After negotiations, the parties agreed on the standard 60:40 split for the first week, with slight adjustments in the second week, clearing the way for theatres to screen the film.
